What is BossKey?

BossKey in “Spotmau Secretary” tool allows you to hide active programs or windows immediately by using a hotkey. You can hide the browser windows, folder windows, applications windows, even some icons on taskbar when your boss (or those who you don’t want them to see your screen) approaches. Everybody should have his bosskey for securing personal privacy. With a cool and user-friendly interface it is super easy for you to use Spotmau BossKey.  

When should you use BossKey?

Want to scan some news when boss is away? Want to play some little game but lest that the boss would show up at your back suddenly? Writing your private diary but there are people passing by frequently? Don’t worry, BossKey can relieve you from such troubles.

Procedure of dealing with BossKey:

1. To begin, please double click Spotmau icon and enter PowerSuite 2009’s interface, follow these steps: Self Service —> PowerSuite 2009 Wincare –> Spotmau Secretary, then you will see the interface looked just like the following picture.

2.  Once you click , Spotmau Secretary will pop up on the right side of your desktop.
 

3.  Spotmau icon will appear in Windows system tray at the right bottom of you screen . By clicking the Spotmau icon, you can quick-launch Personal Safe, History Cleanup and more.

4.  Click the “Menu” button, then a menu will show up. Follow the steps: Secretary tools –> BossKey.
 

5.  you will see the “BossKey” window:

6.  Tick the “Enable BossKey” to enact this function, and select the programs or windows you want to hide once you hit the bosskey.  

7.  Next, you can choose to set a mouse BossKey or keyboard BossKey.

8.  Mouse BossKey: . When you do left-click and right-click simultaneously, the programs or windows you have set to hide will disappear swiftly from your screen.

9.  Keyboard BossKey: . There are three options for you: . You can choose one from them, whichever is most convenient for you to use.

10.  What’s more, Spotmau Secretary allows you to have both mouse and keyboard BossKey to react to any threat or unexpected people as soon as possible.

11.  Don’t neglect clicking  after you finish all the setting!

What is Memo Management?

Memo Management in “Spotmau Secretary” tool allows you to easily manage your daily, weekly and monthly tasks in an easy-to-use way. You can mark down the important matters in your work or your daily life in Spotmau Secretary, which in turn will show you the matters supposed to happen in the immediate future.

When should you use Memo Management?

Are you up to your neck in a mass of files but don’t know which one is most urgent? Have uncountable meetings to attend but cannot remember the exact dates and venues? One of Spotmau’s POWER SUITE 2009 highly recommended functions —Spotmau Secretary — can relieve you from such troubles.

Procedure of dealing with Memo Management:

1. To begin, please double click Spotmau icon and enter PowerSuite 2009’s interface, follow these steps: Self Service —> PowerSuite 2009 Wincare –> Spotmau Secretary, then you will see the interface looked just like the following picture.

2.  Once you click , Spotmau Secretary will pop up on the right side of your desktop.
 

3.  Spotmau icon will appear in Windows system tray at the right bottom of your screen . By clicking the Spotmau icon, you can quick-launch Personal Safe, History Cleanup and more.

4.  Whenever you need to add memos or notes, please click a date to add it.

5.  You will see a “New Memo” dialog, and the date it shows is in accordance to the date you click on.

6.  You can specify the exact time when you need a reminder here.

7.  The “Memo Content” block allows you to mark down what is going to happen according to your schedule.

14.  Ticking the “Enable popup memo” will enact the popup dialog to remind you on time.

What is File Shredder?

File Shredder in “Privacy & Security” tool can help you permanently delete files and folders, which you don’t want to be restored by others or yourself in future. The files deleted by this tool can never be recovered with any special tools like Undelete in the world. File Shredder meets US army data protection requirements.

When should you use File Shredder?

 Procedure of shredding files or folders:

1. The File Shredder runs while you are in Windows. Double click Spotmau icon and enter PowerSuite 2009’s interface, follow these steps: Self Service —> PowerSuite 2009 Wincare –>Privacy & Security –> File Shredder, then you can have the interface looked just like the following picture.

2.      To begin shredding files, please click .

Tips: To shred folders, the procedure will be more or less the same with shredding files. Remember to click  instead of .

3.  A dialog will show up. Please locate the file(s) you want to shred permanently.

4.  All the files you selected will be shown in the list block and they will be deleted permanently.

5.  If you mistakenly add some files that you don’t want to shred, please choose it by clicking it in the list, and click  to remove it.

6.  Please confirm the files in the list before you rush to click  to delete them.

7.  After clicking , you will see a dialog as followed:

9.  When the process is done, the files have been shredded from your hard disk.

What is Personal Safe?

Personal Safe in “Privacy & Security” tool can help you split a private space from your selected disk. And you will see a new disk with the name “Personal Safe” in your “My Computer”(usually marked as “Z”). You can save your important files, private movies, IM chatting record and financial data etc. Without password no one will even notice this space. This NEW technology will protect your personal files more conveniently and safely than ever before.

When should you use Personal Safe?

Provided that you have some private files or business information that requires extra protection from others, what’s more, due to the amount of documents is considerable, it is time-consuming and troublesome to encrypt every piece of them and then decrypt them when needed. Procedure of dealing with a Personal Safe:

1. The PERSONAL SAFE runs while you are in Windows. Double click Spotmau icon and enter PowerSuite 2009’s interface, follow these steps: Self Service —> PowerSuite 2009 Wincare –>Privacy & Security –> Personal safe, then you can have the interface looked just like the following picture.

2.  To start making a safe, please click “Make a safe”. With a popup window “Create Personal Safe Wizard”, go on with the “Next” button.
 

3.  In this step, a detailed list about the partition on your computer will be shown, please choose one out of them to locate your safe.

Tips: As the system disk, volume C is not a good choice. In addition, you can estimate how large are the private documents and choose the volume with adequate free space.

4.  Afterward, specify the size of the personal safe. The default minimum size is 20M, and the maximum size is determined by the available space on the volume you choose.

5.  The Following step is to set a password for the Personal Safe. Please use 6 to 20 characters, no space and use the letters and numbers. Then retype the password to confirm it.

6.  If you want to ensure whether you’ve set the exact password, you can tick “Display”, and verify the password you just type.

7.  Click “Next”and wait for the POWER SUITE 2009 to create your Personal safe.

8.  When the process is done, you can choose either “Open Safe” or not and click “Finish” to close the window.

9.  If you choose “Open Safe”, it will automatically open the personal safe (Z :) for you. Now you can add whatever you like into your Personal Safe.

10.  And under the root of “My computer”，you can see the safe with the name “Personal Safe (Z:)”.
 

11.  Now your personal safe is in an open state, you can close and reopen it without password. In order to close it actually and protect your information from being seen, you need to click the “Hide Safe” bottom.

12.  Click “close”.
At this time, the safe will disappear from the window under the root of “My Computer”. No one will even notice there is a disk.

13.  Next time when you need to open the personal safe, you can click the “Open bottom” or you can also open your safe by right clicking Spotmau Secretary in the system tray at the right bottom of your desktop.

14.  Type your password to open your safe.

15.  And the Personal Safe (Z :) will pop up itself.

16.  If you no longer need the personal safe, you can choose to destroy it. Click “Destroy My Safe”, and the password is demanded.

17. Click “Yes”.
 

18.  Then your safe will be gone immediately. Beware that you have backed up the documents which you still need in the safe before you destroy it.

19.  If the password is leaked or you simply think that it should be changed, you can click “Change Safe Password”

20.  The current password is needed, and please type the new password twice to confirm it,  and click “OK”

21.  At last you will see this little window.

TIPS:

Now you must be familiar with how to use the personal safe, and here we provide you a tip on the usage of personal safe. You should bear in mind which volume you choose to locate your safe, and make sure that if you need to format this volume you had better back up what are in your safe. Since the safe still belongs to the partition of that volume, format the partition will also Format your safe altogether.

If you are often asked to select a certain directory to save the web page directory, please use it to set a default directory. You can set the “Save as” in IE file by doing one of the following:

9.  Finally click the button “Apply” to apply it to your computer. Soon, setting is completed.

10.  Recovery (IE) setting:

Malicious software may change your IE setting, you can recover it to the default IE setting.

The default settings of IE after you click “Recover” are as following:

1  Home Page: about blank

2  Content Password: none

3  Address List: none

4  Context Menu: enabled

5  Source: enabled

Click “Recover” and it will recover your IE setting to the default one.

 What is system services optimization:

Windows and application programs need the basic services to run, and these services are called system services. In our System Service Management, We have listed 10 default service setting types for you to select. They are: Standard PC optimization, Vista default, Windows 2003 default, Windows XP professional default, Windows XP home default, Windows 2000 default, Security, Net, Stand-alone game, Maximum performance. And Standard PC optimization is the most recommended.

 Why should you optimize the system services?

Among the Auto-run services of Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, some of those are necessarily needed but some others can be blocked or disabled. Therefore, you should use System Service Management utility to help you optimize it.

 Procedure of optimizing the system services:

1. Click the “System Speedup” button on the interface of Spotmau PowerSuite 2009 and enter into the “System Optimization” page. Then you can see the System Services   Management as followed:

2.  Click “Start” to enter into Service Management page.

3.  Select one solution from the provided.

(Tips: You can choose the solutions provided, but we only recommend the Standard PC optimization solution. You can also load other solutions from desihnated files.)

4.  If you want to stop a service which is now running, first of all, you should choose it. (You can see from the list that there is a mark in front of that service)

5.  Click the button “Stop”. Then you will see:

 From the following page, you will see, the mark in front of the service has turned from to  , which means that this service has been stopped.

6.  If you want to run a service that have been stopped, first of all, you should choose it. (You can see from the list that there is a mark in front of that service)

7.  Click the button “Run”, then you will see:

Then you will see the mark in front of the service has turned from to , which means that this service has been started.

 8.  Finally, click “Apply” to apply all your settings to your computer.

NOTES:

Disable some unnecessary services can make your computer run more smoothly. However, stop some certain system services may make your computer go wrong. If you are not quite sure about it, please don’t make any change.

What is Data Transfer?

Data Transfer in “Data Rescue” tool can help you remove your important data from the local disk to other media storage fast and safely. In the case where you cannot enter your Windows, Data Transfer can transfer your files to extended devices such as the second internal hard disk, removable disk (such as USB devices, IEEE1394 devices, Flash storage etc.), etc. When your computer gets corrupted and you cannot access to the operating system，you can transfer important data to other partitions on the local disk or to the external disk. The operations are simple, convenient and flexible. Data Transfer can be used when you need to reinstall your OS or replace the disk.

When should you use Data Transfer?

 Procedure of Transferring Data:

1. The Data Transfer runs while your computer booted from the Spotmau CD. You will have the interface looked just like the following picture. Choose the first item “Spotmau Standard Mode (Recommended)”

2.  When PowerSuite 2009 is booting your system, please be patient and wait for several minutes. 

3.  When the booting is finished, you will see an interface as followed:

4.  Follow these steps: Self Service —> PowerSuite 2009 Bootcare –>Data Rescue –> Data transfer:

5.  A window will pop up:

6.  Source selection. To select a directory or file, please left-click it. For multi items that are not located next to each other, please press and hold Ctrl and click the items you want to select; for those items located next to each other, please press and hold Shift, and left click the items you want to select; to select all, please click “Select All ” button. Double-click a directory to access the subordinate directory.

7.  To return upper directory, please double-click “ ” , press Backspace or click upward icon .

8.  Destination selection. Finish the step above, now you can select the destination path in the dialog box. The drop-down list box — – provides different partitions on the local disk, click one. Then select the directory you want in listed files. It implies that the data will be transferred to this specific directory later.

9.  You can also create a new folder by clicking . please name the new folder here. Meanwhile, the textbox right beside Path automatically shows the full destination path to you.
 

10.  When you finish the last two steps, please click .

11.  The following dialog will confirm whether you want to continue the operation or not.

12.  When the data is on transfer, you will see the following window:

13.  If the data has been transferred successfully, you can see a new folder named with the time when Data Transfer tool created it. The whole process is finished.
